With the right accessories, antique kitchens can look as if you've stepped through a time machine and transported to the 1800s. What makes antique kitchen designs look authentic are meticulous attention to detail.
In this kitchen, there's an authentic porcelain kitchen sink with backsplash - the faucet is most likely original to the sink. Sometimes finding a period-style sink can be difficult or expensive (or the sink itself is in rough shape), but there are many companies now offering high-quality reproductions.
Some antique kitchen designs feature open and glass-front shelving to display earthenware and other dishes. You can add some pretty lace doilies, as seen here, to dress up the shelves. A solution to "old fashioned" storage problems can be to add more stand-alone cabinetry and work with the antique design by adding a skirt underneath the sink to hide kitchen supplies.
