Galley Kitchen Designs: They're Linear, Compact, Practical, and Invite Imaginative Design

Galley kitchens, like those aboard ships, maximize small spaces. They may be single or parallel walled. This one is pleasingly symmetrical, with wrap-around overhanging tile countertops providing stool seating areas on both sides. Vertical space has been maximized with cabinets that reach to 8 feet of a 10 foot ceiling height. The off-white, raised-panel cabinets look uncluttered and spacious. The work triangle is unusual, with the circular sink and cooktop close to each other and the refrigerator across from the right-hand counter. Nevertheless, the overall space is small, so that footsteps are few. A small counter space adjacent to the refrigerator provides space to set things. A tall pantry left of the paneled refrigerator on the same wall provides additional storage. An oven sits at the right rear countertop, allowing a handy extra-deep tiled shelf behind the cooktop. A big advantage - it's easy to keep things ship-shape in galley kitchens!
