You can't go wrong with a traditional kitchen design if you choose plenty of white cabinets and a wood floor.
These solid-wood construction cabinets are painted white, but you can also get less expensive white cabinetry in laminate or thermafoil materials that look right at home in traditional kitchens.
Wood floors are a warm and inviting option for traditional kitchens. There are pros and cons to installing a wood floor in the kitchen because of the constant exposure to water and heat. But this is less of an issue if you select a hardwood - such as oak, ash, maple - instead of soft woods such as pine, fir or cherry. Select a durable polyurethane finish and make sure you clean up spills promptly.
Keeping a traditional kitchen design light and airy with white or off-white cabinets and a hardwood floor, opens up plenty of options for color in other areas of the kitchen, such as the backsplash (as pictured here in a soft green), and in accent pieces in the room, such as a bold cobalt blue vases and a striking flower arrangement.
