Q: I’m drilling holes for euro hinges (more than 60 holes to drill) in my kitchen cabinets. To keep me from drilling to deep, is a drill press the only way to go? Also, what’s the best way to line up the hinges and hinge plates so everything fits properly?

A: While a drill press certainly isn’t the only solution, it is the best and the only one I would recommend. Don’t worry too much about being perfect with your hinge alignment. Yes, you need to be fairly close, but absolute perfection isn’t necessary. The holes are slotted to allow you to make some adjustments. Once you have all of the holes drilled into the doors, install the complete hinge onto the door and align it with the cabinet. Then, screw the bracket into your cabinet wall.
