Choices

Q. What is the
preferred material for kitchen
countertops? With so many options out there, it's
hard to pick the right one.
A: You have
to ask yourself a few questions to start with. First,
what's your budget like. Granite and Corian are the
high end of the materials, and are both very durable
and reliable but can be expensive. Concrete is also
a great new concept for countertops, but it can get
a little pricey as well. Butcher block is a good neutral
choice which allows you a lot of flexibility to redesign
your kitchen later on without having to replace the
countertops to fit the color. If you're on a tight budget,
laminate may be your best choice. Laminate is fairly
durable and is a much lower cost that the high end materials.
So, decide what sort of style you're going for and determine
your budget. This will help narrow down your choices.
